This final photo essay takes a new look on the word exploring. Typically exploring is discovering or adventuring into new/unknown places that are unfamiliar to you. But this exploration is different, I'm exploring the explored. Everyday we take what we have for granted, we take waking up in our homes as normal, eating cereal as normal, driving to school as normal. But, with this essay the purpose is to explore what is normal to other people and take on a differing perspective to challenge our definition of normal. In essence I am not exploring anything new, but something new to me. The subject of the essay is Canadian sightseeing as I took the majority of photos in Canada. I selected this place because it is very important to the theme of the essay. To explore the explored, there is no better place than our neighbors. How could people living so close to each other experience such different lifestyles. I am attempting to portray my concept of new perspective on different lifestyles. By capturing aspects of life not typical to the daily American lifestyle in Somerset, Massachusetts. The order and arrangement has no specific meaning. But I did visually unify them by trying to putting on a cool, darker theme unto the photos. The fifth photo of the panicked student is the strongest photo in the series. The angle of the sixth photo is a slightly birds eye view. It is not too high but it is above the subject. This photo is a standout from the series and this is done on purpose to show that through the darkness and cold of the rest of the photos there will be a warmth of good poutine. A yin and yang type of deal.
